| About UsThe Thames River Composite Squadron is located at the Groton/New London Airport in Groton, Connecticut. We are housed in the three white trailers across from the runways on Tower Road.
Our squadron is comprised of senior officers and cadets, ages 12-18.
Cadets study aerospace education, leadership, character development, military customs and courtesies, and drill. We have physical training monthly, as well as a rocketry program, and emergency services training with SAREXs (Search and Rescue Exercises) on periodic weekends. Our cadets are offered 10 free "O" (Orientation) flights (when the weather cooperates!) where they study a lesson and then fly the Cessnas under the direction of a licensed and well-trained pilot.
Senior members are pilots, observers, scanners, and ground teams. They fly missions under the auspices of the US Air Force for training, homeland security, and search and rescue. Our senior members fly our cadets and also train them in aerospace.
We are always open to new members! Come on in and watch a few meetings - see if CAP is for you!
